About State Cup
Welcome to our State Cup assigning page for the Fall 2003 season. Please bear with us as we are still "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" on some of our pages.
The best youth teams in the state compete in the VYSA State Cup competition--they deserve the best referees. If this is the first time you have been invited to referee State Cup Games. CONGRATULATIONS! And if you're a seasoned vet, welcome back.
State Cup competition to in the ball is for the older age groups, U-15 through U-18. Preliminary rounds start earlier this year than usual--September 6th--and conclude on Oct. 18. (U17s and 18's playing 45 minute halves and are therefore suitable as assessment games). Details of the competition can be found on the VYSA WebSite, www.vysa.com.
Two other assignors will be assisting in assigning the games this fall, Ron Magin and Alan Liotta. Because we have a fairly good handle on how many games we will have each playing date, we will be pre-assigning referees for all six playing dates. You will know before the season starts whether you will be working or not any given Saturday (but obviously not fields and times until a few days before). You will be advised you aren't definitely assigned or probably assigned (to account for some unpredictable their relations in the number of games).
All assignments will be made based on responses to the availability form. You must provide your availability to be eligible for assignments. If you are uncertain of your schedule in September and October (business commitments, games schedule, etc.) please wait to return your availability form until your schedule his firm.
If you have any questions about working fees games, give us a call.
Thanks,
Mike Newman, State Cup Referee Coordinator
